Lauren Candito is the Co-Author of "Rising Tides: Social Media Marketing for Colleges & Universities," and is one of the founding members of the SM4Edu Community.

 

Bio:

Lauren Candito is the President/CEO of Social Media Solutions, an avid blogger, and has worked as a creative catalyst for Fortune 500 corporations. Lauren cleverly uses her deep understanding of the interactive realm to develop results driven social media strategies for her clients. She understands the importance of engagement and interaction, and pushes companies to reach outside of traditional marketing barriers to develop their social media strategies. Lauren is a skilled strategist who incorporates a variety of social media tools into her strategies, and tailors each strategic approach to her client’s needs & goals.

How Your Organization Can Do A Lot, With A Little

When Chase Carter, of the Oklahoma State University Alumni Association, began working for the Alumni Association as an intern two years ago, OSU’s social media presence was nearly non-existent. Chase and a fellow intern used social media on a personal level and knew the majority of the student body did as well. With the approval from the rest of the fairly young staff, the OSU Alumni Association began its social media presence with a Facebook group. After only a couple of weeks, OSU realized the limitations of a Facebook group and moved to an official Fan Page.
